The Fundamental Techniques in Handling People to Win Them

  04/27/2023

The famous book “How to Win Friends and Influence People” is a timeless book that provides practical advice on handling people effectively and explains how to win them over. Below are some effective techniques.

Show Genuine Interest

People are drawn to those who show genuine interest in them. In business, it's crucial to build relationships with customers, clients, and colleagues. Make an effort to learn about their interests, hobbies, and work. Show empathy and understanding of their concerns.

Smile

A smile is a simple yet powerful way to win people. It creates a positive atmosphere and shows that you are approachable. Even if you're having a bad day, smile and spread positivity.

Use People's Names

Remembering someone's name is a powerful way to show that you value them. When you meet someone new, repeat their name in the conversation and use it when you say goodbye. If you struggle with remembering names, try to associate their name with something memorable or use a mnemonic device.

Listen Actively

Active listening involves paying attention to what the other person is saying and responding appropriately. Avoid interrupting or jumping to conclusions. Show that you understand their point of view and ask questions to clarify.

Don’t Criticize, Condemn or Complain

Negativity is a major turn-off in business. Avoid criticizing or complaining about others. Instead, focus on finding solutions and offering constructive feedback.
Offer genuine praise: People appreciate recognition for their efforts. When someone does something well, offer genuine praise. Be specific about what they did right and how it contributed to the team or company. This will boost their confidence and encourage them to continue performing at their best.

Show Respect

Treat everyone with respect, regardless of job title or status. Avoid making assumptions or judgments based on appearances. Listen to their ideas and opinions, and give them the chance to contribute.
